Mr John Littlechild
CHAIR / WALES
John joined the South Wales Police
Authority in 1989 and is its longest serving member.
He is an active member of the Cardiff Magistrates Bench
in his home town.
Actively involved in numerous voluntary bodies, John
was a prison visitor at Cardiff Prison for 25 years
and the youngest ever chairman of the National Association
of Prison Visitors from 1981-1983.
John is the chair of the Personnel
and Human Resources Committee and of the Cardiff and
Vale of Glamorgan custody visitors. He also represents
the Police Authorities of Wales on the executive committee.

Kath
Allaway
NORTH EAST
Kath is Head of Corporate
Support at Cleveland Police Authority.
She has worked with
the police service for 23 years and spent the last five
with the police authority, where her responsibilities
included administration of the independent custody visiting
scheme.

Rev. Peter
Beaman
MERSEYSIDE POLICE
AUTHORITY
Peter Beaman is currently Chairman of the Merseyside panel of custody visitors.
As an experienced visitor, he has an input into the recruitment and training of custody visitors and assists with the training of custody officers and assistants.
He is a member of the Joint Improvement Group for call handling within the Force area, and chairs the Police Link Clergy Advisory Group.
A minister of the United Reformed Church in Blackburn and Liverpool, he has been involved in many aspects of community life including education, health and hospital chaplaincy. He also served on the Board of Visitors of HMP Liverpool, HM Thorn Cross Youth Offenders Institution and HMP Altcourse.
Now retired from full time ministry, he remains involved with several ecumenical projects.

Patricia
McCarron
SCOTLAND
Patricia McCarron is a full
time scheme administrator for Strathclyde Joint Police
Board, the largest scheme in Scotland.
She has worked with
the joint board office for three years on a full time
basis and her duties involve recruiting new members
and maintenance of the scheme on a day to day basis.
Patricia has past experience
in large recruitment campaigns, such as children’s
panel membership (exclusive to Scotland) and has been
involved in similar projects such as maintaining membership,
organising events and training.

Ken London
SOUTH EAST 1
Member of Kent Police Authority since April 1999. Member of the Complaints Committee from April 1999, Chairman of the Committee (re-named Professional Standards) since July 2005.
Took early retirement from Local Government in 1994 from a Civil Engineering career specialising in traffic engineering and management.
A Magistrate since 1982. Now dealing with Family Courts. Was instrumental in steering through a bench policy aimed at a common objective in regular court licensing business and has lectured at courses on the role of the Licensing magistrate and Licensing Court procedures.
Deeply involved with activities in the village of Elham where he lives. Church Warden of the parish church and a Trustee of two active village charities.

Kathie
Emery
VICE CHAIR / SOUTH WEST
Kathy was appointed to
Dorset Police Authority in 1995 as an independent member,
with lay visiting as one of her first duties. She became
president of the then lay visiting committee, though
continued visiting and remains chairman 10 years later.
Kathie is also a board
member of Dorset Crimestoppers.She and her husband run
a small engineering company in Bournemouth, which mainly
makes components for the aircraft industry.

Ms Kerry McClelland
METROPOLITAN
Kerry McClelland works for the MPA as the Independent Custody Visiting Scheme Manager. She manages a team of ICV Co-ordinators, who are responsible for the day to day running of the scheme and providing practical support to approximately 450 ICVs organised in to 32 London Panels.
Prior to joining the MPA in November 2005, Kerry worked for a number of organisations including Southwark Council, managing work around Business Improvement Districts, Community Service Volunteers and the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

Hudson
CENTRAL 3
David was appointed as
a member of ICVA’s executive committee in December
2005. As a visiting panel member for nine years and
panel coordinator for seven years, he represents Staffordshire
Police Authority at ICVA’s AGM, national and regional
conferences.
As well as facilitating
local conferences, David organises visits to a mobile
unit at music festivals and other occasions, and attends
events and trials of the latest drug detection in custody.
Over the past five years
he facilitated at the Staffordshire Police Training
School in both initial and refresher training for most
of Staffordshire’s new ICVs.

I have been a custody visitor for a number of years. At present I am coordinator for the Western Area for North Wales Police Authority. This is my second year as representative on the icva executive committee.
It is a large geographic area of approximately 100 miles from one custody suite at the northern most part to the southern most custody suite. Although primarily a rural area we do have the very busy port of Holyhead within our catchment area.
I am married to Sara and have two boys, Dafydd and Aled. We live in the heart of Snowdonia, with outstanding views of the mountains, including Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales.
I am employed within local government and am the only member on the panel fluent in English and Welsh.

Sadie Logan
NORTHERN IRELAND
I was involved in my local church for many years and through that I
became interested in community work in my own area.
I became involved with the community police liaison committee for several years, where I had the role of chairperson. I moved on to become a Independent Custody Visitor and have been doing that for 4 years, two of which I served a chairperson.
I am also a member of the independent monitoring board at Hydebank Prison, which houses males up to 21 years of age and females of all ages. I find this work very rewarding and gain a lot of satisfaction from it.

Mr Malcolm Hardy

Malcolm MacDonald Hardy (better known as Mac). A former Local Government Manager until retirement at Christmas 2005. Married with 4 grown up Children and a proud Grandfather. Involved in many voluntary agencies in a range of capacities ranging from Director, Vice Chairman and general Committee member. An Animal Lover who spends a great deal of time walking with my dog and assisting animal charities. An 'Independant Custody Visitor' for the past 5 years and Co-ordinator of the Sunderland and South Tyneside Panel for the past 4.
Took over as Representative of The Northumbria Police Authority from John Mair onto the ICVA National Executive effective from December 2006.

Brian
Pirie
SCOTLAND
Brian is clerk to the
police board and scheme administrator in Edinburgh.
He helped establish
Central Scotland Joint Board’s custody visiting
scheme in 2000 and the Lothian & Borders police
board’s scheme in 2001. In addition, Brian has
run ICVA’s Scottish office and been a member of
the executive committee since 2003.

Janet
Spencer
WEST YORKSHIRE POLICE AUTHORITY
Janet is chief executive
of a housing organisation offering supported accommodation
to vulnerable people across the city of Leeds. She formerly
worked in the Youth Justice System, employed to develop
and manage a Bail Support Scheme for Adolescent Offenders.
She has experience of working within a social service
and probation setting.
Janet sees her role
as an independent member of the police authority as
offering the opportunity to effectively represent and
serve the people living in West Yorkshire and also to
take a full and active part within society.
Janet has a keen interest
in people as individuals and as members of communities.
She enjoys working equally both at strategic level with
policy and procedures, and face-to-face community consultation
and engagement. She is committed to partnership working
in order to maximise resources and improve services
to the benefit of local communities.
She has a BA in Philosophy,
a Diploma in Social Work and a Masters Degree specialising
in Criminal Offending Behaviour.

David Wood lives in a small village in Suffolk just outside Ipswich. Married to Rita with two children, Simon & Helen (now resident in New Zealand) and two grandchildren. He served in Suffolk Fire Service for 34 years, retiring in 2000.

Tattingstoke Parish Councillor for 25 years
Member of Suffolk Police Authority since 2000 and currently vice-chair and lead member for Custody and Race & Diversity.
In his spare time (if any) he supports Ipswich Town FC, and enjoys outdoor pursuits, including cycling, walking & skiing. He also enjoys the theatre and fine wines.
